EU Plans to Track Crypto Transactions for More Transparency: Eurogroup President
Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe, also Ireland’s Finance Minister, outlined the EU’s plan to enhance transparency in cryptocurrency transactions during his keynote at the European Anti-Financial Crime Summit 2025 in Dublin. The proposed measures aim to reclassify performance transfer mechanisms, requiring crypto asset service providers to record sender and recipient data.
"It’s essential that we broaden the scope of this kind of financial regulation," Donohoe emphasized, framing the move as a critical step in addressing transparency gaps within the crypto sector. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to strengthen the EU’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) authority rules.
